Governance at Sidlesham

Our Governing Body plays a vital role in supporting and challenging the school to ensure the very best outcomes for all pupils.

Governors work closely with school leaders to help shape the strategic direction of Sidlesham Primary School and to ensure that our vision - to secure the very best life chances for every child - is realised.

What Governors Do

Governors are responsible for:

• setting the strategic direction of the school

• holding leaders to account for standards and outcomes

• overseeing the use of resources, including funding

• ensuring safeguarding and statutory responsibilities are met

They visit the school regularly, speak to pupils and staff, and monitor key priorities such as teaching, behaviour and attendance.

Our Governing Body

Our Governing Body is made up of a range of members who bring different perspectives and expertise:

• Parent Governors – provide a parent perspective

• Co-opted Governors – bring skills and experience to support the school

• Local Authority Governor – provides a local authority perspective

• Staff Governors – provide insight into school life

All governors share a commitment to supporting the school and improving outcomes for pupils.

Meetings and Structure

The Full Governing Body meets regularly throughout the year.

There are also two key committees:

• Quality & Standards Committee – focuses on teaching, learning and outcomes

• Staffing, Resources & Premises Committee – focuses on finance, staffing and the school environment

These committees report back to the Full Governing Body to ensure effective oversight and decision-making.
