The School Day

At Sidlesham Primary School, we have clear routines that help children feel settled, safe and ready to learn.

Our school day is carefully structured to ensure pupils make the most of their learning time while also enjoying opportunities to play, socialise and relax.

Start of the Day

• School doors open at 8:30am

• Pupils should arrive by 8:40am

• The school day begins promptly at 8:40am

Children enter school independently, helping them to develop confidence and responsibility.

Morning work is ready for pupils on arrival so that learning begins straight away.

Daily Routine

A typical day includes:

• Assembly: 9:30am – 9:45am

• Morning break: 10:45am – 11:00am

• Lunch: 12:00pm – 1:00pm

• Afternoon learning: 1:00pm onwards

Our structured day supports a calm and purposeful learning environment.

Late Arrival

If your child arrives after 8:40am, they must be brought to the school office and signed in.

Registers close at 9:10am, after which arrival may be recorded as an unauthorised absence in line with national guidance.

End of the Day

The school day ends at 3:10pm.

Teachers supervise pupils as they leave the building to ensure a safe and smooth end to the day.

If your child is being collected by someone different, please inform the school office in advance.

Safeguarding

For safeguarding reasons:

• visitors must report to the school office and sign in

• children should enter school independently unless prior arrangements are made

These procedures help us to keep all pupils safe.

The school week totals 32.5 hours, in line with Department for Education expectations.
