British Values
At Sidlesham Primary School, we actively promote the values that prepare children to live positively and safely in modern Britain.
These values are embedded through our curriculum, our school rules and our daily interactions with pupils.
They closely align with our school values of Ambition, Confidence and Kindness.
What This Looks Like at Sidlesham
We promote these values in a way that is meaningful for our pupils:
Democracy
Children are encouraged to share their views and contribute to school life. This is seen through our School Council, pupil voice and opportunities to influence decisions.
Rule of Law
Children understand the importance of rules in keeping everyone safe. Our school rules - Ready, Respectful, Safe - are consistently applied and understood by all.
Individual Liberty
Pupils are supported to make choices and develop independence within a safe and structured environment.
Mutual Respect
Respect is at the heart of our school. Pupils learn to treat others with kindness and consideration at all times.
Tolerance
Through our curriculum, we teach children about different cultures, beliefs and perspectives, helping them to understand and respect the world around them.
Our Approach
We teach these values through:
-
our curriculum, including PSHE and RE
-
assemblies and whole-school events
-
pupil leadership opportunities
-
everyday interactions and expectations
We aim to develop confident, respectful and thoughtful young people who are ready for life beyond primary school.
