Bookfest Brings Stories to Life at Sidlesham!
Sidlesham Primary School was buzzing with excitement this week as pupils enjoyed a fun-filled day at BookFest, celebrating the joy of reading, writing and imagination.
The day began with a visit from author Guy Bass, who had children in stitches with his witty poems and hilarious childhood photos. His stories and humour inspired many of our budding writers to pick up their pens with confidence.
Later, Jim Beckett transported pupils on a creative adventure, helping them dream up their own story set on a disco-farm with a very sassy parrot! Accompanied by his ukulele – and even a song or two – Jim’s workshop captured children’s imaginations and filled the hall with laughter.
Throughout the day, pupils asked thoughtful questions, engaged in lively discussions, and proudly shared their own writing with our visiting authors.
We were also honoured to welcome Ros Gentle OBE, trustee of the Woodgar Trust, who joined us to see first-hand the incredible impact of the Trust’s support in making this special event possible.
BookFest was a joyful celebration of creativity and storytelling – and one that will be remembered for years to come.
