Mrs Koiston’s Assembly: How Can We All Make a Difference?

Today’s assembly was a special celebration as we announced our new pupil leaders for 2026–27.

We explored our big question: What makes a good leader?

We thought about people who help others and what they do that makes a difference. We linked this to our school values: ambition means trying our best, confidence means having a go, and kindness means helping others. Our pupil leaders will help put these values into action and model our rules of Ready, Respectful, Safe.

We were delighted to announce:

  • Head Pupils: Harley and Miraya

  • Deputy Head Pupils: Clemmie and Isaac

  • Prefects: Felicity, Kayden, Martha, Sapphy, Bea, Dexie, Ollie, Arthur, Bodhi, Josh, Elfie, Juli-Ann and Toby

Our head pupils will listen to pupils and represent our school, supported by our deputy head pupils. Our prefects will set an example and help around school.

Every child who applied received a leadership role, and we are proud of them all for having the courage to put themselves forward. Each role brings different responsibilities, and every member of the team has something valuable to contribute.

We also talked about disappointment when things turn out differently from how we hoped. Those feelings are understandable, and we will support the children as they settle into their roles. We want them to recognise their own strengths, celebrate one another’s achievements and understand that being a good leader is shown through how we treat people and carry out our responsibilities.

Our leaders’ promise brings this together:

I will listen and include others.
I will do my best with my responsibilities.
I will ask for help when I need it.

We finished by reminding everyone that we can all make a difference through our everyday choices.

Our mission this week is:

Make one helpful choice that makes a difference to someone else.

You might like to ask your child: How could you show leadership through kindness this week?

Growing together in ambition, confidence and kindness.
