Sidlesham Pupils Learn About Reducing Food Waste with UKHarvest
Today, Sidlesham Primary School welcomed Siân Georgeou, Education Facilitator from UKHarvest, who came to share the charity’s important work in tackling food waste and supporting local communities.Siân led an engaging session with the children, helping them to understand how food waste impacts the environment and what simple steps families can take to reduce it. Pupils learned how small changes—such as storing food correctly, making the most of leftovers, and planning meals—can make a big difference.
In support of UKHarvest’s mission, Sidlesham families generously donated a wide range of food items. These donations will go directly to helping people in need, ensuring that good food doesn’t go to waste.
Headteacher Sophia Koiston said:
“We are so grateful to Siân and UKHarvest for working with our children and families. It was a valuable opportunity for pupils to see how their choices can make a positive difference, both to the environment and to people’s lives. We’re also incredibly proud of the generosity shown by our families through their donations.”
The visit is part of Sidlesham’s ongoing commitment to helping pupils understand global issues and develop the values of ambition, confidence and kindness—both in school and in the wider world.
