Uniform

At Sidlesham Primary School, our uniform helps to create a sense of belonging, pride and readiness for learning.

We aim to keep our uniform simple, practical and affordable for all families.

Our Approach

Our uniform is designed to:

  • promote equality between pupils

  • be practical and safe for school activities

  • support pupils in being ready to learn

  • be affordable and widely available

We follow national guidance to ensure costs are kept to a minimum, with only a small number of branded items required.

School Uniform

Pupils are expected to wear:

  • Grey trousers, shorts, skirt or pinafore dress

  • Blue and white checked summer dress

  • White shirt or polo shirt

  • Royal blue jumper or cardigan (logo optional)

  • Plain white, grey or black socks or tights

Footwear:

  • Plain black shoes or trainers suitable for school

Most items can be purchased from supermarkets or high street retailers.

PE Kit

Pupils should wear:

  • Blue PE t-shirt (logo optional)

  • Navy shorts (logo optional)

  • Trainers or plimsolls

In colder weather:

  • Navy jogging bottoms

  • School zipped PE top or suitable alternative

Generic items are acceptable for most PE kit.

Keeping Costs Low

We are committed to keeping uniform affordable.

  • Only a small number of branded items are required

  • Most items can be bought from a range of retailers

  • Second-hand uniform is available through the PTA and school

If you need support with uniform, please contact the school - we are happy to help.

Second-Hand Uniform

We regularly offer second-hand uniform through:

  • PTA sales

  • school uniform exchange

This helps keep costs down and supports sustainability.

Inclusion and Flexibility

We are an inclusive school and will make reasonable adjustments where needed.

This may include:

  • adapting uniform for medical or sensory needs

  • allowing religious dress

  • ensuring all pupils feel comfortable and included

Jewellery, Hair and Appearance

  • Small stud earrings and watches are permitted

  • Jewellery must be removed or covered for PE

  • Hair should be tidy and appropriate for school

  • Long hair should be tied back where necessary

  • Make-up and nail varnish should not be worn

These expectations help ensure safety and consistency.
